My daughter and I went to a clothing store to get her skirts, as she always said "I want to wear skirt!".

clothing= 洋服
clothing store ⇒ you want to buy a skirt

cloth= 布
cloth store　⇒you want to make a skirt


「cloth」and 「clothes」look similar, but the pronunciation is different.
「cloth」はクラースっぽく、「clothes」はクローズっぽく。
clothは単数形でも複数性でもスペルが同じで、布のことを表す。
clothesは複数形オンリーかな？不思議なことに、単数形の「服」がないような気がします。「an article of clothing」や「a piece of clothing」で、「洋服の一部」的な言い方しかないかも。
