この町から暴力を排除する exclude [remove, get rid of, eliminate] violence from this town.（※excludeはこれから入るのを防ぐ,他の3語はすでにあるのを取り除くこと）

町長の不信任案が17対15で否決された The town assembly rejected [voted down] a nonconfidence motion against the mayor by a vote of 17 to 15.

So, it's really 否決, but I could use the other one (笑）・・却下。 The first is more .. literal, frank, matter-of-fact; the second is more of a not wanting to let me.
