乱
乱す 【みだす】 (v5s) to throw out of order, to disarrange, to disturb, (P)

素
素顔 【すがお】 (adj-na,n) face with no make-up, unpainted face, honest, frank, (P)
素晴らしい 【すばらしい】 (adj) wonderful, splendid, magnificent, (P)
素早い 【すばやい】 (adj) (1) fast, quick, prompt, (2) nimble, agile, (P)
素直 【すなお】(adj-na,n) (1) obedient, meek, docile, unaffected, (2) honest, frank, (P)
素敵 【すてき】 (adj-na,n) lovely, dreamy, beautiful, great, fantastic, superb, cool, capital, (P)
So素 means ‘elementary, principle, naked, uncovered’. 素直、素顔。Well, I’m not sure how 素直 means “obedient”… but whatever. But, 素敵 means “uncovered-like”, right? So, isn’t that kind of implying that Japanese admire the honest/uncovered??
Well, I think that may just be limited to the etymology of 素敵.. but I’m not sure if I can say that word comfortably now, thinking about what it kind of means. (If someone is amazing and beautiful, I don’t want to say 素敵… I want to say かっこいい or something else… Well, I guess it could mean like “They’re uncovered… just as they are, I like them!”, but I think that’s stretching it. Maybe, with the word, you’re implying that a person is, to you, the Element of Being ____ (cool/positive trait), and that require no extra effort, they simply ARE (cool/some other positive trait).
弱気市場|a bear market
味の素 【あじのもと】 (n) (food) monosodium glutamate (brand name), MSG, (P)

漢字バトル3 Kanji Battle III
I have to learn about 20 a day in order to reach my goal, so I'll take all the motivation I can get. I'm even thinking of investing in a Nintendo DS and some kanji software to get things going...
泳ぎ 対 水泳分
well, it's really 泳ぎ VS 永遠, "swim" vs "eternity". The only difference is the water radical (さんずい).
捨てる vs 拾う【ひろう】 (v5u) to pick up, to find, to gather, (P)
The difference here is 2 strokes... or, mentally, すてる is 土 under a "roof" (is that really a roof?) and ひろう is a 手偏 (hand radical) and the kanji from 合う.
Remember: You THROW THINGS AWAY on the ground, so -> 捨てる
Your HAND MEETING THINGS is 拾う.
Yay for kanji that make sense.
「土に捨てて、手と物が合って、拾って。」
役 【やく】 (n,n-suf) use, service, role, position, (P) VERSUS
投げる【なげる】 (v1) to throw, to cast away, (P) // 投じる (とうじる) (v1) to throw, to cast, to invest, (P)
(No connection to 殴る, to strike or hit. +1 Joyopoint, though. Wait, actually, the right radical's exactly the same!

「お父さん殴る人?」 ... funny line from Sugihara's girlfriend in GO (his dad's a boxer why has beat him at times)
夫【おっと】 (n) (hum) (my) husband, (P) VS 矢 【や】
Well, this one's just a visual mistake.
夫を矢で殴って、殺した! Woah, 殺す also has that "windy-again" しゅ radical! +1 joyo point
(Sorry for the grisly example. It's all kanji-related, like 「家にある女は安い」)
練る (ねる)knead, work over, polish up

It's a small kanji world out there, huh.
壁 VS 整

整う【ととのう (v5u) to be prepared, to be in order, to be put in order, to be arranged, (P)
整える 【ととのえる】 (v1) (1) to put in order, to arrange, to adjust, (2) to get ready, to prepare, (3) to raise money, (P)
整った 【ととのった】 (adj) well-ordered, in good order, well-featured, well-regulated, (P)
整える is to put in order, arrange/adjust, to get ready and to prepare, and to get money...
so, you want to do things properly, which is the bottom radical (正しい)
→「正しく整えてね!」
I really wonder if these mnemonics could help anyone but myself..
And it's interesting, that 整える's kanji is learned in the 3rd year of elementary school but 壁 is learned in the 3rd year of middle school.. so that'd make me backwards.
軍 VS 庫 (倉庫【そうこ】(n) storehouse, warehouse, godown, (P)
Well, they both are based off of くるま (車)...The first is 軍 【ぐん】 (n,n-suf) army, force, troops, (P) ; the second is a storehouse or warehouse, pronounced often as コ or sometimes くら.
Ex:

庫入れ 【くらいれ】 (n) warehousing
金庫 【きんこ】 (n) safe, vault, treasury, provider of funds, (P)
国庫 【こっこ】 (n) national treasury, (P)
車庫 【しゃこ】 (n) garage, car shed, (P)

I'm amused by the literal meaning of credit union : "a safe/vault you can trust". What's a 銀行 doing with your money then, hmm? That's just "where your money goes" (literally?)
「軍の車庫」 (military car shed)
銀 and 眼鏡 can be discerned just for fun... the right radical in is the same.
「銀の眼鏡」 -- hey, the second kanji in めがね is 鏡 (mirror/かがみ)! +2 JY points.
炭 (すみ)is charcoal, 岩 is a rock or "crag", a word I've never used.
I'm fairly certain this topic was already covered, but just in case (念のため)...
童 【わらべ】 (n) child, (P)

漢字バトル②
建つ VS 健 【けん】 (n) health, strength, stick-to-itiveness, (P)
【たつ】 (v5t) to erect, to be erected, to be built, (P)
建てる 【たてる】 (v1) to build, to construct, (P)
「・・友達の健康を心配してしまいました・・」
違い: 健 has the 人偏 (にんべん) radical. A "person's build" is health..?

巨 (giant), large vs 臣 (subject, retainer [servant])
巨 【きょ】 (n) big, large, great
巨人 【きょじん】(n) giant, great man, (P)
巨大 【きょだい】 (adj-na,n) huge, gigantic, enormous, (P)
臣民 【しんみん】 (n) subject, national
大臣 【だいじん】 (n) cabinet minister, (P)

基【もとい】 (n) basis, (P) VS 墓【はか】 (n) gravesite, tomb, (P)
基礎 【きそ】 (n) foundation, basis, (P)
Memo: Top part's different, but the look is similar. Appropriately there's a 草冠 (くさかんむり) / grass radical for the gravesite kanji, since grass grows over graves.
違い 【ちがい】 VS 偉い【えらい】 VS 衛 (defense, protection)
自衛 【じえい】 (n) self-defense, self-defence, (P)
衛星 【えいせい】 (n) satellite, (P)
衛生 【えいせい】 (n) health, hygiene, sanitation, medical, (P)
The えい kanji has a lot going on (衛) ・・ the link between all three is 韋(イ, tanned leather)
韋編 【いへん】 (n) leather cord
Hmm.. Trick: 偉い= sorta like "person with tanned leather". So, people with tanned leather clothes are えらい?
胸 【むね】 VS 脳 【のう】
熱(ねつ)VS 熟 (つくづく)
熟 【つくづく】 (adj-na,adv) (uk) completely, really, thoroughly, deeply, severely, intently, (P)
熟す 【こなす】 (v5s) to break to pieces, to digest, to handle easily, (P)
Memo: Left part is different; 圥+土 VS 享 (to receive). Fires are on the ground.. so it's like a fever or passion.
生を享ける 【せいをうける】 (exp) to live, to be born
壊す VS 懐かしい
なつかしい has the heart radical on the side (りっしんべん).. it's definitely an emotion of the heart!
(And well, I suppose you could also think "you break things on the ground (土)")
塊 VS 鬼 VS 兎(兔)VS 魂
塊 【かたまり】 (n) lump, mass, clod, cluster, (P)
鬼 【おに】 (n) ogre, demon, "it" (i.e. in a game of tag), (P)
違い: かたまり has the land radical on the left (つちへん)... so a clump looks like a big 'soil ogre'?
兎【うさぎ】 (n) rabbit, hare, cony, (P)
うさぎ just has the same general shape of 塊 and 鬼, but it also has the animal-related (in my opinion) てん-type mark that my classmates used to claim was "poop". (It's in 犬 too!)
魂 【たましい】 is comprised of 云 (speak) + 鬼 (ogre).
云云 【うんぬん】 (n,vs) and so on, and so forth, comment
云う 【いう】 (v5u) to say
次回: 「貫 かん VS 貴方」、 「
